The Bachelor’s degree program in Politics, Philosophy and Economics is interdisciplinary. Students acquire a theory-based and action-oriented range of skills to analyze social, political and economic problems from a philosophical, political and economic perspective, to develop innovative solutions for current social challenges such as climate change, inequality or international conflicts and to make well-founded, ethically responsible decisions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politics, Philosophy and Economics (B.A.)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Degree: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bachelor’s degree program in Politics, Philosophy and Economics is interdisciplinary and pluralistic. It combines the core disciplines of political science, philosophy and economics. Students learn to think critically, analyze arguments and interpret philosophical texts. They deal with ethical aspects of decision-making and the normative foundations of politics and economics. They become familiar with classical and modern political concepts and analyze national and international structures of political systems and institutions. They develop an in-depth understanding of global conflicts and international politics. They learn that there is a wide range of perspectives on the economy. Students are able to critically discuss the functioning of markets, the tension between supply and demand, the behavior of companies and households and the role of governments in the economy. At the same time, they acquire basic methods of economic and political analysis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students acquire a comprehensive understanding of complex social, political and economic contexts. After successfully completing the course, they will be able to think in an interdisciplinary way and to consider and evaluate problems and questions from different perspectives – philosophical, political and economic. They are able to develop holistic approaches to solutions and have the skills of critical reflection, logical argumentation, analysis of complex texts and data as well as a deep understanding of the workings of society, politics and the economy. Their strong problem-solving skills enable them to develop innovative solutions to current social challenges such as climate change, inequality or international conflicts and make well-founded, ethically responsible decisions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Political theory, international relations and comparative politics with central fields of philosophy such as ethics and epistemology form the main subjects of the course<\/strong>. Economic content ranges from pluralist and institutional economics to planetary economics and economic policy practice. The program is complemented by empirical methods, language courses as well as practical projects, simulations and an internship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Career opportunities<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong> offer consulting, lecturing, public and press relations, project development and management as well as functions in international organizations, political parties, parliaments and the diplomatic service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
