Most certificate programmes are built in one place and delivered to another. This one is different. It’s being co-created directly with Latin American partner universities — because a genuine understanding of a region has to come from within it. Latin America is too often sidelined in global academic conversations, and this programme is one way of pushing back on that.
In April and May 2026, Karls staff will travel across the region to meet all five partners in person and continue developing the programme together:
- Argentina — Instituto de Estudios de América Latina y el Caribe (Buenos Aires) and Universidad de Congreso (Mendoza)
- Chile — Universidad Diego Portales
- Peru — Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (Lima)
- Costa Rica — Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología (ULACIT)
- Mexico — Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Santa Fé and Mixcoac (Mexico City)
The trip is co-funded by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). And the funding doesn’t stop there — students who take part in the Certificate Program and want to spend a semester abroad at one of these universities can also apply for financial support.
The programme launches for students across all Bachelor programmes at the Karlsruhe campus. More details to follow.
